One sided

The well rounded, multi-talented person is at a big disadvantage today, because specialization is absolutely necessary for success. But to accept the influence of another art, to take ideas and assume perspectives, is a very good strategy. The advice Robert Bresson gave young film students was to study another art. In his case, I suspect he learned a lot from Manet, particularly the blank faces, which conceal so much feeling.
