An Explanation

Readers of the earlier post on captions and backstory might have had some difficulty in understanding the choice of illustration. Actually, it makes a lot of sense—what wouldn’t make sense is an explanation, even though this is not a story. Maybe it is a story. In any event, I’ll just say I was surprised to find out that Rauschenberg made more than one portrait of Iris Clert. And that he realized they were also portraits of himself.
